One of the most challenging and at the same time amazing things in Machine Learning (and AI) is the speed of development. As a Data Scientist it is pretty hard to keep up with research and it is impossible to check every new model and read papers. However, the world keeps turning and AI has the potential to make our lives easier - and more fun! That is why I want to motivate people to play with some of the free AI tools out there. 

There are two habits I developed and try to stick with, to make time for the exploration of tech trends: 

1. Friday Focus Finds: I dedicate some time every Friday to find amazing new things that enhance my knowledge and spark my creativity

2. Going to events, sharing my knowledge, and thereby also meeting other people who are passionate about machine learning (next event coming up 9th April 2024 - more information below!

Also, I am trying to approach the AI topic playfully and with humor. That way I am consciously taking a break from my work routine and at the same time, using my creativity to learn and teach about new research and tools. . Further, I want to foster a curiosity about AI and Machine Learning topics in everyone, tech or non-tech person, as I deeply believe that our future will be deeply shaped by these technologies.

Friday Focus Finds: a weekly reminder you can incorporate into your business life too 

Each Friday, I dedicate some time to learning something cool about AI. Example: 

I found this cool demo on Hugging Face.

It lets you upload an image of yourself (or someone else) and then you can prompt the model to generate new images, conditioned on your uploads. This is a lot of fun and you can create yourself as an astronaut, wizard, rugby player or change your ethnicity. My talk at the PyData in London called “Robot Holmes and the Vision-Language Murder Mysteries“. Here the audience could join detective Robot Holmes on an adventure through the streets of the vibrant city of MLington. Together, we found out who is behind a series of mysterious murders in the bustling neighbourhood of Vision-Language Village (ViLaVi). 🔎The talk is for everyone interested in the topic of Vision-Language models and who wants to gain some first insights into their ways of working. People who already have a profound knowledge of Vision-Language models are welcome as well, as they probably have never seen it presented as a crime story in a strangely familiar city.
